In a bid to increase vaccinations, the Department of Health has launched its “Covid-19 Vooma Weekend” at Sibaya Casino today – for one day only.
Cabinet urges unvaccinated South Africans and people living in South Africa to take advantage of the Vooma Vaccination Weekend which will take place around the country on Friday, 1 and Saturday, 2 October 2021.
All individuals with South African ID documents are eligible for vaccines at the Imbizo Conference Room between 09h00 and 16h00.
The project is a joint venture between the Department, Sibaya Casino and its Community Trust as well as the eThekwini Municipality.
Sibaya General Manager, Myan Moodley, confirmed that both Phizer and J&J shots will be administered.
“We are all aware of the importance of vaccinations and the drive towards herd immunity.
“By vaccinating we are not only protecting ourselves but the wider community by preventing further mutations of the virus.
“We therefore encourage members of the public to take advantage of this opportunity,” he said.
Vooma Vaccination Weekends aim to mobilise citizens and people living in South Africa to get vaccinated as a means to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
The public and private health sectors, organised labour and business and community- and faith-based formations will join forces in the vaccination drive themed Vooma Vaccination Weekend.
This will be the first Vooma Vaccination Weekend in a series of outreaches under this banner in which leadership from across the political spectrum, civil society, traditional leaders, labour and business will mobilise communities to stay safe by being vaccinated.
