Beat the cold weather by warming up with South Africa’s multi award winning female jazz artist, Judith Sephuma, Pop singer and songwriter, Lady Zamar and funny man Loyiso Madinga with the second episode of the V&A Waterfront’s Good Night Fridays livestream concert on Friday, 28 August at 7pm.
Internationally acclaimed songstress and multi-award winning artist, Judith Sephuma will leave you in awe with her soft and sultry voice. Joining her on the digital stage is multi-platinum selling and award winning artist, Lady Zamar. And there is no doubt that Loyiso Madinga who will keep you entertained in his role as MC for the night. A little more about the performers:
LOYISO MADINGA is the South Africa Correspondent for the international show, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. He has quickly risen to being a certified international comic.
Loyiso has represented South Africa at the Montreux Comedy Festival (Switzerland) and Busan Comedy Festival (Korea). He has also performed at a Live LOL Recording (produced by Kevin Hart) at the Montreal Comedy Festival. Loyiso has written and performed on the two-time Emmy finalist satire show, Late Nite News with Loyiso Gola and also written and performed on the hit sketch show, Bantu Hour.
JUDITH SEPHUMA is an internationally acclaimed songstress and multi-awards winning artist. She is dubbed the Queen of Afro Jazz and is a prolific and versatile singer with an angelic voice. Since the release of her triple platinum-status debut album titled A Cry, A Smile, A Dance in 2001, Judith has attracted interest and acclaim from Jazz, Afro-soul and Gospel music lovers all over the world.
When her album was released, Judith had already performed at several major Jazz festivals – both in South Africa and internationally. These included The North Sea Jazz Festival in Cape Town (2000), as well as the same festival in Holland (2002) – where she performed alongside big names such as Marcus Miller and Roy Hargrove. In 2014, Judith travelled to Washington DC, USA to perform for Heads of States. She has worked and shared the stage with international artists such as Bebe Winans, Oletta Adams, Jonathan Butler, Al Jarreau, Randy Crawford and Chaka Khan. Her collaboration with Michael Bolton singing the old classic Over the Rainbow and another with Kenny G on her A Cry, A Smile, A Dance album qualifies Judith as one of the best singers and performers that South Africa has produced.
Following a two-year break, after the release of her seventh album in 2017, The Queen of Afro Jazz, has come back to provoke thoughts and emotions through music with her latest Afro-Jazz album titled Power of Dreams, launched on 2 May 2019 at the Market Theatre in Johannesburg.
LADY ZAMAR is a multi-platinum selling and multi-award winning South African Musician, academic and entrepreneur who kick started her music career with a smash hit “Mamelodi” with Junior Taurus off their multi-nominated Duo Album “Cotton Candy”. She began singing at the tender age of six looking up to the likes of Tracy Chapman as early inspiration for her music. Her debut solo album “King Zamar” released March 2017 has been widely praised as one of the best dance albums ever released in South Africa garnering her, her first SAMA at the SAMA24 ceremony in 2018. She also bagged 2 more awards off the smash hit “Charlotte” where she was featured by Prince Kaybee. Lady Zamar has worked with the likes of DJ Tira, Lulo Café, DJ Fortee, Divine Brothers, Prince Kaybee, Nadia Nakai, Dr Moruti, DJ Choice, Saudi and DJ Steve.
