Durban – 2019 has been good year for South Africans. The country is proud of it very own Miss South Africa, Zozibini Tunzi for being crowned the new Miss Universe!
On Sunday 8 December 2019, we saw the crowning of the 68th Miss Universe. This prestigious event took place at the Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
The show was once again hosted by Steve Harvey – an award-winning comedian and Author. The show was co-hosted by actress and former beauty queen Venessa Lachay. We witness amazing performances by Fifth Harmony member, Ally Brooke.
After putting on a very tough fight in the competition, Zozibini managed to impress the judges and fans, which lead her to taking the title of Miss Universe South Africa from Miss Universe 2018, Catriona Gray.
Following Margaret Gardiner in 1978, and Demi-Leigh Nel-Pieters in 2017, Zozibini is the third South African to win the Miss Universe crown.
She is also the first Miss Universe to wear the brand-new “Power of Unity” crown with an estimated worth of R73 million.
