It has been just a few days since Mabala Noise announced that they will be re-branding, introducing to us a new logo and a new talent joining the label.
A few days ago, Mabala Noise announced that they rebranding and releasing a few artist from the label except for Zakwe, in order to scout for a new talent and it looks like they have discovered a few.
Mnqobi Yazo is one of the two new artists that has joined the new venture of Mabala Noise. He represents the sound that the label has been looking for and we can’t wait to hear more from him. He is a Durban born star who mixes different genres of music but infuses Maskandi Pop and Tribal.
With his recent single released – Sabela – under the label, he has managed to shake the music industry with his unique sound.
Mnqobi’s love for music began in grade 4 where he used to be a rapper and then later in grade 5 to 7 he joined Isicathamiya group. He got into high school and stopped singing because people didn’t understand his talent and he hadn’t discovered his real self and enough confidence. In grade 10 he met someone who helped him discover his talent and he realised he could sing. He then began approaching people to help him make music and learn to produce his own music, after high school he joined Creative Arts College where he began to go through self- discovery as an artist. Mnqobi listened to music like Isicathamiya, Afro Jazz and Maskandi which influenced his sound while combining them together to create his own unique genre.
He is no stranger to music as his career began on his 2nd year where he was able to put his songs on all local stations and cemented his music career on his 3rd year at college, where he was now doing performances. He was on a song called Ntombazane by Cannon which was played on big commercial radio stations. He then composed a song Khuluma by Aewon wolf which was first performed on Live Amp and the song was used for campaign called Khuluma – Break The Silence. Mnqobi has worked with different brands performing and artists like Kyle Deutch and Sketchy Bongo.
His long term goals is to make music featuring legends all over the world. He wants to travel Africa and find artist that have authentic African sounds. On his S’cephu project, he is expecting the project to reach all parts of Africa because the message of the songs is relatable and easy to live by.
