The South African Radio Awards, previously known as the Liberty Radio Awards, recently announced their 2021 finalists on the 14th of June 2021.
Known for her contagious laugh and magnetic personality, Noni Khumalo (29), beauty enthusiast and rising radio star has bagged herself two nominations at the South African Radio Awards in general categories, best ‘music show’ and best ‘weekend radio show’ for her show ‘The Global Love Experience’ at Voice of Wits FM.
It was in 2018 when she decided to take the big step of kick-starting her career in the entertainment industry by joining one of the coolest campus radio stations in the city of Gold, Voice of Wits FM and co-hosted the weekday breakfast show which got a nomination at the South African Radio Awards for that year.
She now also works with one of the biggest commercial radio stations in the country, 947 serving as one as one of the stations cool crew that brings real life on air or sometimes can be on air and do duties such as traffic or co-hosting.
“Being nominated for a South Africa Radio award is the most rewarding moment in my radio career thus far. I joined campus radio in 2018 with nothing but passion in my heart. In 2019, I left the breakfast show at Voice of Wits FM to start a new venture. I conceptualized, produced, and presented a brand new Sunday show called “The Global Love Experience”, a lifestyle show about beauty, medicine, and love. Nothing beats the feeling of finally doing what you grew up listening to, and have industry giants give it a nod,” said Khumalo.
The nomination is very close to Khumalo’s heart as she conceptualized the show from scratch to on-air, it has given her validation that she is on the right track and is doing well especially in a cut-throat industry such as radio in South Africa.
Khumalo is a radio star in the rising but also a beauty enthusiast with a sharp cut crease on a well based clear skin. She spreads her wings to being a make-up artist and beauty expert in providing education about beauty and building confidence in people through her love and passion for beauty.
“I want to be the voice, bring out confidence in those who lack it and remind those who have forgotten that they are beautiful. I believe in being relatable and authentic,” she adds.
Moreover, she is the darling of the stage and microphone as she hosts events from launches to panel discussions.
Her work has been witnessed on platforms such as the Heavy K Album lunch ,the Ladies launch at emperor’s palace amongst others, currently her favourites can see her at the Silverstar Casino giving away cars and money.
The Radio Awards are all about honouring outstanding achievements across Campus, Community, Public Broadcast, and Commercial radio, setting benchmarks for all stations and professionals to strive.
